Description

These prominent and very eye-catching earrings are crafted from silver which has been expertly worked by Rachael Plassard to create several colours and textures. The jewellery pieces come from Plassard’s ‘Faded Acanthus’ collection.

The shape of both earrings is based on the acanthus leaf, a decorative element that has been widely used in decorative styles from centuries past. Plassard has studied its various forms and styles, the earrings being a result of this in-depth investigation. Through experimentation, she has reinterpreted the traditional ornament into a modern accessory.

Each earring is crafted from hand-pierced silver which has been oxidised as well as adorned using the ancient Korean technique of Keum Boo. This involves the application of thin sheets of gold to silver. The darker shades of the oxidised silver and lighter shades of the gold sheets beautifully accentuate the complex shape of the jewellery pieces.

The earrings are stamped with the maker’s mark in addition to other hallmarks.

These magnificent earrings will beautifully frame one’s face and can be used alone as statement pieces or mixed with other jewellery to create a more maximalist look.
