Description

This eclectic group contains five tea kettles, each of which is designed in an ornate English Rococo-esque style to lesser and greater degrees, is raised by a conforming stand, and is brilliantly gilt. The kettles are formed from metal which has been gilded at a later date. Several of the kettles contain ivory handles and insulators, the warm and aged tone of which complements their lustrous gilt bodies.

The kettles are by various makers and were produced at various dates during the latter 19th Century. The makers include Elkington, Mappin and Webb, and Padley, Parkin & Staniforth, among others. The group thus contains examples by some of England’s most important and celebrated 19th Century manufacturers. The kettles are fully marked to their undersides with their respective maker’s insignia.
