Description

The rectangular commode is surmounted with a veined, white marble top, which sits above a shallow drawer that is extensively decorated with foliate ormolu mounts. These mounts extend as a frieze onto the upper sections of both sides of the commode, and there are further decorative ormolu mounts, in the form of acanthus leaves, to the upper vertical lengths of the four corners, above fluted detailing to the lower parts. The main body of the commode features two large drawers of rosewood and mahogany parquetry, each with ormolu borders and mounted with two circular ormolu handles. The commode sits on four arrow feet, the tips of which are mounted with ormolu.
