French antique ormolu and cloisonne enamel five piece clock set

This exquisite clock set is crafted in the Rococo style from ormolu and inlaid with intricate cloisonne enamel all over. The set comprises a central clock, a pair of candelabra and a further pair of vases.

The clock, which takes pride of place in the centre of the garniture, features a highly detailed circular dial. The centre of the dial is decorated with a circular panel of cloisonne enamel in the shape of gilt scrolls and petals, which is further surrounded by black Roman numerals set into plaques on a band of ormolu. The '12' and '6' numeral plaques also bear a split signature of the retailer 'Mayot / Lyon'. The clock face is set behind a protective panel of circular glass, which can be opened on a hinge to the left. The outer rim of the clock dial is inlaid with further cloisonne enamel with scrolling leaves and petal designs, and surmounted with an ormolu and cloisonne enamel urn with a flame finial. Charming and playful ormolu putti are mounted to the upper left and bottom right of the dial, and the dial is further encased in naturalistic mounts of flowers in ormolu. The clock is set onto a square-form stepped plinth of ormolu, which is inlaid with cloisonne enamel and mounted to each side with scrolls and dolphin masks. The clock is set on four toupie feet.

The elegant pair of flanking candelabra compliment and enhance the design of the clock. They are crafted in ormolu and inlaid with cloisonne enamel all over with patterning that matches that of the clock. Each candelabrum features one surmounting light which is set with a removable ormolu plug, and four encircling lights with drip pans that are set onto scrolling acanthus-leaf branches; all set upon a central urn support with twin handles.

The pair of vases complete the garniture with graceful splendour. They feature tapered conical glass flower holders, which are delicately engraved and held as a torch by ormolu putti, which stand upon circular bases.
