French brass-inlaid mahogany card and dressing table
£8,500
This beautiful table, which is crafted from the finest of materials in the Neoclassical style, functions as a dressing table, a card table, and a writing table.
This highly unusual table functions as a card table, a writing table, and a dressing table. The Neoclassical style piece is crafted from mahogany and burr-elm, with brass inlay throughout. The hinged sliding rectangular top, which is centred with a brass inlaid foliate cartouche, opens to reveal a green baize playing surface, while the frieze drawer below is surmounted by a velvet writing surface. When the tabletop is slid back and the frieze drawer pulled out, the writing-surface of the drawer can be hinged backwards to reveal a dressing mirror and various compartments.
The apron of the table is finished with inlaid brass frames, and the table is supported by four tapering fluted legs, each set on a brass toupie foot and each surmounted by a brass capital.
