Description

This beautiful French jardinière is crafted from ormolu and cloisonné enamel in the Chinoiserie style. The jardinière features a bulbous, blue-ground bowl, which is adorned with geometrical cloisonné wire motifs and a series of Chinese style decorative forms, such as birds and flowers, all of which are wrought from lustrous polychrome enamels. The neck of the jardinière is set with an ormolu mount, the top of which is intricately pierced. The jardinière is raised on a square pierced ormolu base set with ormolu foo dogs to each corner.

The underside of one of the foo dogs is marked ‘CB’.
