Description

The commode has a rectangular-shaped body, which stands on four feet, the back two straight and front two turned. The front two feet serve as plinths for classical style Doric columns, which flank the central body of the piece. The central body features three long drawers, each with a central keyhole flanked by a pair of ormolu knobs. The corner columns have slim ormolu-banded bases, smooth wooden shafts, and simple ormolu capitals. They support a wooden architrave, which projects out from the main body. The architrave is mounted at its ends, above the columns, with ormolu palm leaf motifs, and at its centre with an ormolu Apollo mask motif. The commode is surmounted by a wooden plateau.
