Description

This fine vitrine, or display cabinet, is crafted in the elegant Louis XVI style from gilt and painted wood. The cabinet features a large, glazed front, with the pane of glass contained within a scrolling gilt-edged and cream coloured wooden frame. The sides of the cabinet open, with each glazed door formed from cream painted wood with giltwood borders. The body of the cabinet contains four glass shelves, set against the wooden backboard.

The cabinet is raised on four cabriole legs, each crafted from cream painted wood with carved giltwood edges and connected by a scrolling apron—each side of the apron centred with an ornate giltwood foliate mount. The cabinet is surmounted by a pedimental top, centred with an ornate giltwood rocaille.
