This fine mantel clock is crafted from giltwood in the Neoclassical style. The clock is architecturally formed, featuring a shaped giltwood plinth-form base, which supports four columns and a rectangular backplate. The columns are modelled with square-profile shafts and male bust capitals, a form that recalls the caryatid. The backplate features an oval mirror, before which is seated a carved giltwood figure holding an oval shield. The columns support an entablature finished with ball finials and floral mounts. The entablature is centred with a large circular enamel dial behind domed glass, with the clock drum surmounted by an elaborate urn-form finial.
