There are some extremely fine Neoclassical style details on this beautiful ormolu and malachite mantel clock, including, most specially, a seated Roman figure with a child by his side which adorns the top of the clock. The figure is bearded and shown in traditional Roman military dress, while the child is shown wearing a robe. Additionally, there is a medallion shown in front of the pair of figures, exquisitely cast with a mask in profile and surrounded by foliate decorations. The figures are shown sitting on top of the clock pediment, with foliage below and with the central circular enamel dial set into the centre.
The splendid ormolu on the top of the clock contrasts beautifully with the vivid green malachite veneer which adorns the plinth below. The plinth is formed in two sections, the upper part of which is mounted at the centre with ormolu decorations showing military uniform, weapons and medallions.
