This side table is a rare and unusual late 19th Century piece, and yet it has a timeless elegance to it, suitable for a grand, luxury interior. Its top is square in shape and built from the green gemstone onyx, which is beautifully veined and sits inside a border of intricate enamel work.
There is further, impressive enamelling on the table's cylindrical column support, completed using the complex champleve technique, and decorated with intricate scrolling floral and foliate motifs in blue, pink, red, and white.
Below the enamelled column there are finely-cast gilt bronze mounts in the form of acanthus leaves, which rest on an enamelled socle on a square onyx base, mounted with four ormolu paw feet.
