Description

This desk in the Louis XIV style is an exact replica of a desk built by the important designer Andre Charles Boulle (French, 1642-1732) in 1720, which was sold in 1896 from the collection of Mademoiselle de Choiseul and is now at the Hotel de la Vaupalière. It features brass and tortoiseshell marquetry, and a red leather top, standing on four cabriole legs with ormolu female busts at the tops and paw feet. There are three drawers to the front and false drawers on the other side.
