Description

This fine mantel clock is crafted from gilt and patinated bronze in the Baroque style. The clock features an oval fluted veined marble base, which terminates in a spreading foot mounted above with an encompassing ormolu wreath. The body of the clock is formed from a gilt bronze flowing drapery, which supports the spherical tôle clock drum set with gilt hour indices and hands. Below the spherical drum, wrapped within the folds of the gilt bronze drapery, is a patinated bronze cherub; another cherub surmounts the drum, his left hand holding aloft an ormolu flaming torch.

The underside of the marble base is inscribed ‘E.B’.
