Description

Contained within an ornately carved giltwood frame, this oval porcelain plaque is delicately painted with a scene after the Flemish artist Peter Paul Rubens. Rubens’ original work, entitled ‘Putti at play’, is here realised on the medium of porcelain. Seven putti are laden with the fruitful burden of vines and bunches of berries, the putti arranged in a variety of poses and postures and set within a mountainous, rocky landscape.
