This column is made from beautiful red marble and ormolu (gilt bronze). The column is of Ionic form, standing on a square marble plinth. A bipartite base sits on the plinth, where a mounted ormolu torus marks the beginning of the column’s shaft. The unfluted shaft rises to a mounted ormolu Ionic capital, above which sits a two-fasciae architrave. The architrave is surmounted by a square-sided marble entablature.
