By KPM, Konigliche Porzellan-Manufaktur (German, founded 1763)
£7,500
Quirky, vibrant, and full of inquisitive charm, this very fine piece was made by KPM, and as such it represents the best of animal sculpture in porcelain.
Perched on a short tree stump, this delightful, quirky, lively parrot model was made by KPM, leading makers of German porcelain wares and sculptures, in the late 19th century.
Twisting its neck back to the viewer over its left shoulder, the parrot's dominant green tone subtly changes and modifies over the bird's body, its head accentuated with a splash of blue and by the bright, wide-open red tinted eyes.
A charming, beautiful piece of sculpture, the fine modelling of the porcelain is as elegant as the sensitive, expressive manner in which the paint is applied, helping to make this piece a highly desirable, wonderful home accent and work of decorative art.
