This impressive Neoclassical chandelier is crafted from a selection of delicate materials. It showcases the highest quality work of early 19th century Baltic craftsmen.
The upper section of the chandelier is superbly cast from ormolu. Star-shaped amethyst glass pieces alongside droplets adorn the top. Below, a similar type of ornamentation decorates the shining ormolu construction, with four chains linking the top to the bottom. Vibrant blue glass is used for the central column, its design featuring graduated dishes, all framed in ormolu edging.
The central corona is mounted with detailed lion masks. A double scrolling branch extends from each mount with sixteen lights altogether. These are fit with foliate drip pans and carefully tooled candle cups ornately adorned with amethyst glass droplets. The amethyst glass detailing throughout creates a wonderful purple tinge which brilliantly matches the deep blue and shining gold of other materials.
This elegant chandelier celebrates the fine craftsmanship of artists from the Baltic states. Its unusual amethyst glass droplets paired with other carefully selected design features will add a touch of opulence to an interior space.
