The egg is of typical form, crafted in gold and featuring royal blue guilloche enamel detailing all over. The egg is set onto a square base, which is mounted to the edges and corners with intricate gold mounts and features cabouchon stones to the centre of each side. The egg is set on a waisted stand, and the lower half features gold bow decorations joined by swags, and is joined to the upper half with hinges to the rear. The upper half of the egg is decorated with white enamel double headed Imperial eagles, and is surmounted by a diamond encrusted imperial crown. The egg opens to reveal a miniature vase of gemstone flowers.
The base bears gold hallmarks and other marks, and the egg is presented in a fitted case with markings to the interior.
