Description

This truly magnificent model of a bird by the renowned English jeweller, Asprey & Co, is crafted from a sumptuous combination of the most precious metals, stones and specimens.

The model takes the form of a glittering songbird with outstretched wings perched on a branch. The bird, whose form is startlingly naturalistic, is crafted in two tones of 18 carat gold and inlaid with rubies, diamonds and hessonite. It features onyx eyes and a white gold beak, in which it holds a small feather. The branch upon which the bird perches is cast in white gold, and delicate yellow gold leaves are set upon its flowing length. The branch is mounted onto a naturalistic base of the mineral malachite-chrysocolla, which exhibits striking turquoise and green banded patterns. The base is further mounted onto a shallow, golden dome which is decorated with a grass-like texture.

The leg of the bird is stamped with hallmarks, and the model comes in a fitted Asprey case which is stamped to the interior with the British Royal Warrant.

The bird: Height 26cm, width 18cm, depth 14cm
The box: Height 29cm, width 27cm, depth 20cm
