Grand and impressive 19th century Russian ormolu chandelier

This opulent chandelier, crafted in late 19th century Russia, is a stunning example of the period's eclectic design, featuring a fusion of styles that were popular at the time.

The central column of the chandelier is adorned with a variety of intriguing motifs. At the top, several winged lions are mounted, symbolising prosperity, power, and bravery—attributes highly revered in ancient Greek and Roman cultures. Beneath these, three phoenixes grace the curvaceous column, representing immortality and renewal.

The most elaborate section of the chandelier is its central body, filled with numerous light fixtures. Each ormolu branch is expertly shaped and ends in a beautifully decorated candlecup, which holds a candle-like light. Surrounding the lights are charming animal figures, such as a charming squirrel and a majestic eagle perched on clusters of flowers, its wings spread as if ready to take flight. The design also features winged dragons, symbolising wisdom, adding to the richness of the piece.
