The throne chair is ornately cast in a repousse silver veneer, with four paw feet and cabriole legs influenced by the Rococo style. The base frame of the chair is decorated with foliate motifs, flowers and rope. The arms terminate in stylized lion heads with open mouths and are upholstered in red velvet to the top. The seat and backrest are also upholstered in red velvet, with shallow buttoning to the backrest. The silver frame of the backrest is ornately cast with flowers and foliate motifs, and is surmounted by twin rampant lions and finials to each side and to the centre.
This chair is heavily influenced by the European Rococo style which was brought to India as part of the expansion of the British Empire in the mid 19th Century. For further details on the presence of the Rococo style in India, please see this slightly smaller example, also thought to be from the Gol Estate, Jaipur.
