The micromosaic plaque is of rectangular form and depicts the charming scene of a heavily patterned stately interior, in which we can see a lady in period dress peeping from behind a curtained doorway. Following her gaze, we see a man, possibly her lover or even a secret admirer, standing on tiptoe on a chair, kissing her portrait on the wall. The micromosaic is set on a slate backing which is bevelled to the edges and housed within a gleaming ormolu frame.
