Description

This fine impressionistic oil on canvas painting is by Eduardo Forlenza, and Italian artist known for his portraits and genre scenes, particularly his portrayals of Italian peasant women. The present painting depicts a young dark-haired woman shown from the chest up at an oblique angle to the picture plane. She glances to her left, over her nude shoulder and back, as she grasps white drapery and a bunch of pink roses. The colour palette is soft and sensual, and the painterly manner expressive and adept.

The painting is contained within an openwork giltwood frame, and is signed 'E. Forlenza' to the lower right.
