Italian sterling silver 20th century fountain centrepiece

Made in Milan in the twentieth century, this exceptional centrepiece is Italian sterling silver, and is lavishly decorated and adorned with superb mythical ocean creatures and themes. Fully functioning and motorised, the piece, set upon four dolphin legs, features mythical sea-monsters from whose mouths the water flows.

It is formed of a rectangular shaped basin which is split into four quadrants shaped like shells, which are dotted with small silver crabs. Another, secondary, smaller basin mounts the others, and is in turn topped with a singular central dolphin. The silver is stamped both 1018MI for the maker, and 925 for the quality of the silver. It is inscribed 'FATTO A MANO' (indicating it is handcrafted), and is a superb piece of Italian 20th century design, sure to be the highlight of any setting in which it is placed.
