Of a particularly rare and unusual design, this beautiful piece is a large Meiji era brass and cloisonné enamel casket.

Large in size, and decorated with a series of vibrant panels with woodland and floral scenes with wild birdlife interspersed around the box, the bright blue enamel panels are mounted on a brass structure, with a short frieze and feet around the base.

Beautifully adorned with flowers, and opening up to a refined, lined interior, it is a beautiful display piece and storage item, dating to a particularly rich and prosperous period in Japanese history.
