Description

This fine patinated bronze sculpture of an eagle is a superb demonstration of Meiji period design. The sculpture depicts a perched eagle, his talons clasped onto the top of a naturalistically rendered integral outcrop. The eagle, his wings lengthened to full extension, evinces an active, agitated pose. The bristling feathers of the bird are deftly rendered, as are the eyes, which are finished with inset stone.
