This Meiji-period enamel jardinière is of circular form and features a waisted neck, which curves to a wide rim. The body of the jardinière narrows into a waisted socle that expands again into a flared base. The enamel ground of the jardinière is a beautiful teal blue and is profusely decorated with intricate cloisonné enamelwork. The cloisons take the forms of flowering vines, beautifully infilled with delicately shaded green and white enamel. Contrasting with the naturalistic portrayal of the flowering vines, a stylised cloisonné enamel chrysanthemum medallion prominently marks the front of the vase.
The jardinière is signed underneath with the mark of Attori.
