Kaffsack, Joseph (German, 1850-1890)

Joseph Kaffsack was a respected sculptor who received a scholarship to study sculpture at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. After finishing his studies, he moved to Berlin in 1880 and was known to have worked in several other countries including Spain and Austria. He worked using various mediums including marble, plaster, stone, bronze, terracotta and majolica. He died at the age of 39 by drowning on boat trip while on the Wannsee lake near Berlin.
