This beautiful lantern, crafted from finely polished brass and inset with bevelled glass, demonstrates the refined character of the Neoclassical style.
This fine and exceptionally large lantern is crafted from polished brass and bevelled glass in the refined Neoclassical style. The lantern features an octagonal profile, with each of the eight sides fitted with four lozenge shaped panes of bevelled glass—with a fifth, stained pane to the centre. The structure of the lantern is supported by eight scrolled brackets above, all of which combine to create a scrolling corona at the crown of the lantern.
The lantern is no longer complete with its light fittings, and can thus be used as a purely decorative ceiling hanging or can be refitted with the appropriate fixtures.
