Description

This beautiful porcelain plaque is a remarkably modern piece of 19th Century French design; the monochrome palette accented with moments of vibrant colour has a surprisingly contemporary feel. The porcelain plaque is enamelled on occasion, lending certain vibrantly coloured passages an additional lustre.

The plaque portrays a young woman dressed in antiquated garb, perhaps drawn from the Renaissance. Her monochrome face is serene and serious, while her multi-coloured clothing is sumptuous in its textural and vibrant detailing.

The plaque is contained within a fine velvet mounted giltwood frame and is signed lower left ‘Lamy’.
