Large Fabergé style precious stone cherry blossom flower model
Style of Fabergé (Russian, founded 1842)
£12,000
The beautiful Faberge style flower model is made from a range of luxurious materials, intricately crafted to depict the charming features of a cherry blossom plant.
Crafted in the 20th century, this stunning flower study is modelled in the Fabergé style, after the work of the renowned Peter Carl Fabergé (Russian, 1846-1920).
Slender gilt metal stem and branches are set in a shaped rock crystal vase, simulating water. Several branches terminate with vibrant, nephrite leaves. The naturally accruing pattern on the stone creates a life-like effect on the leaves.
Two charming quartz flowers adorn the upper part of the model. The centre of each is set with a single diamond in a silver claw frame. Interspersed among the flowers and leaves are green turquoise balls, representing green cherries. The black detailing of the stone adds to the overall aesthetic qualities of the piece.
The creation of Fabergé hardstone flower models was a collaborative project, involving the work of numerous goldsmiths and artists. Hugely popular in Russia during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, only around 80 original Faberge flower and fruit studies exist, making this Faberge style flower model a particularly desirable object d’art.
