Large French ormolu mounted clear and ruby red cut glass vase

This exceptional ormolu (gilt bronze) and glass vase was manufactured in 20th century France.

The fluted body is made from cut and coloured glass and the tulip neck terminates in an ormolu border decorated with egg and dart motifs. The ruby red glass, gradually transitions into a clear base, drawing the eye towards the large sphere. The carefully faceted sphere stands atop an intricately cast ormolu base.

Below the superbly faceted detailing, the fluted socle is adorned with egg and dart, foliage, and beading motifs. The vase stands on an ormolu plinth, each side of it decorated with scrolling patterns.

Of the highest quality, this glass vase is an exceptional stand-alone decorative piece or can be paired with a floral composition, further accentuating its beautiful design.
