Adorned with exceptionally grand, lavish, flamboyant leopard skin-style upholstery, this magnificent piece of furniture is a large antique giltwood sofa, made in France in the early twentieth century.
Brightly gilted, the sofa is constructed from a large, lavish, giltwood frame, in a tripartite structure rising towards the centre and sloping down on either side. The curved forms of the sofa display both grand, Baroque influences and Rococo sentimentality, demonstrating the stylistic synthesis of the French Baroque and hints of the Art Nouveau.
A magnificent piece, it can be paired with and further two further sofas in our collection in the same style, which can be viewed here.Â
