This very large pier mirror is crafted in the Italian Baroque style. The mirror is rectangular in profile and features a giltwood frame profusely carved with Baroque motifs: abstracted, scrolling forms predominate, which weave in front and behind each other, terminating in volutes and textured with repeated patterns. The crown of the mirror resembles a Baroque broken pediment, likewise featuring scrolling volutes. The mirror is a remarkable piece of nineteenth-century Italian craftsmanship, and a superb demonstration of the Baroque style.
