Depicting colourful flowers and foliage, this oil on canvas was painted by the Spanish artist Manuel de la Rosa (1860-1924).Â
The simple but charming compositon depicts various flowers amongst foliage on a pale blue backgroud. Intricately painted calla lillies are painted in shades of white and yellow, highlighting their subtle colour palette. Peaking from behind the lillies are flowers rendered in various shades of pink, Rosa portraying them in their full bloom and bud states. The bottom half of the painting is dominated by rich foliage out of which the beautifully coloured flowers slowly appear.Â
The painting is mounted in a carved giltwood frame, and signed 'Manuel de la Rosa/Sevilla' to the lower right.Â
Rosa's floral still life painting can be displayed alone, or as a composition with two other paintings by thesame artist available here.Â
