Description

This fine Orientalist watercolour is by the British artist Henry Stanton Lynton. The painting portrays a bustling street scene in a dry and dusty North African or Middle Eastern city. Figures meet and chat, surrounded by architecture with a distinctly Islamic feel. The colour palette is warm, hinting at the harsh heat of the noonday sun.

The painting, contained within a giltwood frame, is signed and dated lower right ‘H.S. Lynton 98’. A framer’s stickers is affixed to the reverse.
