The clock set consists of a three, very large patinated bronze putti, with the central figure holding a clock above his head, and the two flanking figures carrying candelabra.
These bronze putti stand on circular stepped malachite plinths, which are set with ormolu mounts and raised up on ormolu spade feet. The mounts are intricately decorated with foliate patterns, and the central plinth is fitted, on its sides, with projecting pinecone forms.
The putti at the centre is semi-nude and partially draped with a piece of fabric. His hair is composed of tight corkscrew curls, and he has a straight-faced expression. The putti’s arms are raised to support the clock case, which is propped on his head. This features a circular, white enamel dial, which is decorated with Roman Numerals and Arabic Numbers. The dial is set within a circular, beaded ormolu case, which is topped by sculptural flower garlands and a quiver of arrows, crossed with a burning torch.
Flanking the central figure are two short-haired putti, who are similarly depicted semi-nude. Each figure holds an ormolu floral bouquet in one hand and an ormolu four-light candelabrum in the other. The candelabra are composed of scrolling, foliate branches which terminate in wide drip-pans, leafy capitals and orange candle tubes. One putto stares ahead, while the other looks up at the bouquet in his hand.
