Large pair of French antique ormolu wall lights after Rémond
After Rémond, François (French, 1747-1812)
£18,000
Adorned with exquisite nature-inspired details, these Louis XVI style wall lights pay tribute to the craftsmanship of Rémond, a renowned 18th century bronze artist.
These striking wall lights are designed in the style of François Rémond (1747–1812), one of the most celebrated bronze artists of King Louis XVI’s reign. Renowned for his exceptional craftsmanship, Rémond created exquisite pieces for an elite clientele who adorned their opulent residences with his masterpieces.
At the top, the wall lights feature a delicately cast tied ribbon cantered by a circular mount. The draped design naturally guides the eye downward to the central, most striking element. The dark metal section is richly embellished with ornate ormolu mounts, including floral swags interspersed with finely sculpted female busts.
Extending gracefully from this section, four scrolling arms adorned with acanthus leaves support refined bobeches and candle cups. The piece concludes with an opulent ormolu arrangement of cascading leaves and tassels.
This identical pair, with its impressive scale and sumptuous detailing, makes a captivating statement in both classic and contemporary interiors.
