Beautifully executed by the well-known French manufactory, the centrepiece bowl is filled with sweet decorations.
The glass bowl is of an elongated and slender form, its shaped rim matching the glass finish. The silvered bronze stand is cast in the shape of branches made to support the glass bowl. Adorning the top of the stand is a garland made up of apples and leaves. Flanking the central bowl are two adorable cherubs each one with his head raised, observing the sweet bird sitting on their hands.
Christofle was founded in 1830 by Charles Christofle (d. 1863). The firm mastered the art of silversmithing and silver-plating, quickly becoming very successful and creating pieces for an elite clientele. The firm continues to make superb metalware pieces today, but the centrepiece bowl showcases the earlier work of Christofle making it very desirable. Â
The underside is stamped with typical Christofle marks as well as inventory numbers.
Filled with spring-inspired imagery, this impressive centrepiece bowl can be filled with various fruits, decorating one’s dining table.
