Description

This wonderfully executed silver plated charger is manufactured in the style of Elkington & Co, the well renowned Victorian silversmiths.

The central medallion has been left plain and is surrounded with scenes of battle between humans and mythological creatures. The two worlds intertwine to create a scenery where knights are looking over their sholders at mermaids, and centaurs are battling each other. Further motifs include views of a castle and dragons spitting fire. All the individual stories are linked together by the acanthus leaf and foliage pattern intertwining with the main subjects of this fascinating silver-plated charger.

The broad border surrounding scenes of battle is also cast in low-relief and showcases further acanthus pattern as well as four framed profile busts. Each bust has been positioned in equal distance from the other and is executed in high-relief. The charger is framed with a ropework border.

Depicting mysterious and captivating scenes, this wonderfully crafted charger is a superb piece of decor.
