Large verdigris patinated bronze sculptural fountain

This fine sculptural fountain is crafted from patinated bronze. The bronze has been patinated with verdigris, a natural green patina produced through oxidisation, and seen today most famously on the Statue of Liberty in New York. The present group depicts three cranes: two birds stand, while one perches beneath atop the circular base. The birds are naturalistically rendered, their postures and manner indicating movement. The bronze is unpatinated to their bills and partially to their necks, lending a variety of colour to the piece; the verdigris demonstrates a variety of tones, too, ranging from blue, to turquoise, to green.

The base is signed ‘T Canpiola’.
