Crafted in France in the second half of the nineteenth century, this beautiful three-piece clock set is remarkable for its high quality and beautiful design, with a harmonious decorative style across all three works.
Featuring the same mounts, feet, and manner of gilding across the central clock and the two flanking vases, the set features glazed panels with enamel decoration to the front and sides of the clock, and a pair of vases with rich blue, floral, motifs and decoration, cast in lavish gilt-bronze mounts, to the handles, rim, and base. The feet of all three pieces are united by the same sphinx busts on each corner, which are joined by gilt beams, ribbons, with fleur de lis mounts set along each face.
Some of the bronzes are marked 'Henry', and the back of the movement's case is marked for 'Miller & Sons,' the English importer and retailer of clocks, founded in 1851 in Piccadilly. There is also presentation label to the back of clock, dated October 1966.
