The silver-plate tray is by the Lebanese silversmith firm Habis, which was the first silversmith to be founded in Lebanon, based in Beirut, after the country’s independence in 1943. The firm was established at the request of the country’s first president, Bechara El Khoury. Initially, Habis produced sterling silver only, but by the 1960s the firm had diversified into producing goods in silver-plate.
The tray is rectangular in shape, with a raised lip finished with a twisted rope moulding.
