Description

This superb Art Nouveau period lamp by Émile Gallé is crafted from overlaid, acid-etched, and wheel-carved glass. The lamp features a beige ground overlaid with pink-brown etched and carved decoration of floral sprays and other foliate motifs. The lamp has a domed shade supported by three brass brackets, above of an elegantly curved glass stem. The work is a remarkable demonstration of the Art Nouveau style with its penchant for floral motifs, and a tour de force of glassmaking, demonstrating a host of decorating techniques.

The shade and the base are signed ‘Gallé’.
