Description

This oval Limoges enamel plaque depicts a painted eighteenth style century scene of two couples sitting around a table in a Louis XV style interior. They recline in their chairs and appear to be drinking wine and eating various food items, with an elaborate centrepiece sculpture in the middle showing off an exotic pineapple. Beside the table are smaller cabriole-legged side tables holding plates and food, and above, an elegant ormolu lantern. The plaque is held in an ornate rocaille shaped giltwood frame, which is missing a few of its carvings from the crest.
