This Louis XV style ormolu (gilt bronze) mounted green marble mantel clock is formed about a marble amphora shaped case extensively fitted with ormolu mounts.
The vase-shaped case is supported by a square ormolu base with scalloped corners, the base raised on four ornately scrolled foliate legs. Upon the base sits an ormolu socle, the form of which imitates rolled acanthus leaves. The marble case itself is richly adorned with ormolu: twin scrolled foliate handles spring from the shoulder of the vase, a foliate and floral ormolu swag draped between them, while an ormolu foliate wreath, surmounted by a tied ribbon motif, encompasses the clock dial. The white enamel dial is inscribed with Roman numeral hour marks and Arabic numeral five-minute marks. The marble vase is surmounted by an ormolu top, from which springs an ormolu floral bouquet finial.
