This excellent piece is an ormolu mounted Vernis Martin and parquetry vitrine. Of bombe form, and modelled in the Louis XV style, it features a central Vernis Martin and glazed panel, with a hinged door and interior shelves. It stands at almost all of two metres in height: a large and impressive piece, crafted for the absolute finest of interior spaces.
Parquetry areas adorn the sides of the curving arc of wooden panels, and gilt bronze mounts encircle the main spaces and line the edges of the arcing wooden structure. The inside is lined with a tasteful shade of green fabric, which complements the rich veneer of the outside. In short, this piece is remarkable and highly refined example of late 19th century French furniture and craftsmanship.
