The table features four cabriole legs, each lacquered and terminating in an ormolu foliate sabot. The bombe shaped body of the table is entirely decorated with vernis Martin (the name for a French variety of imitation lacquering). The tabletop portrays Venus surrounded by cherubs lying on a bed of clouds, while the sides depict similar scenes of cherubs in heavenly settings. The hinged tabletop lifts to reveal a shallow cabinet and a mirrored backing, while the front of the body is inset with a cabinet drawer.
