This fine mantel clock is crafted in the Louis XVI style from malachite and ormolu—with the malachite veneer being a later addition. The clock is architecturally formed, featuring a shaped malachite base supporting four malachite columns, which in turn support a malachite entablature. The base is raised on ormolu toupie feet, while the front face of the base is adorned with pierced classicising ormolu mounts. The entablature above is centred with a circular enamel clock dial set within an ormolu bezel, which is flanked below by a draped ormolu garland. The entablature hosts four malachite urn finials topped with ormolu cornucopias, while the clock drum is surmounted by an elaborate malachite and ormolu urn. An Apollo sunburst pendulum hangs beneath the clock case.
