Description

This large bronze tiger is by the celebrated Japanese sculptor Genryusai Seiya. The tiger stands aggressively, as if ready to pounce; his mouth is open mid-roar and his eyes are wide. The bronze is beautifully cast and wonderfully patinated, the patination ingeniously utilised by Seiya to indicate the tiger’s stripes. The tiger’s eyes are formed from inset coloured glass, lending the piece a welcome flash of colour.

The work is signed to the underside.
